SE-IT, is a utility that when used in conjunction with Siemens Solid Edge and Microsoft Excel, reduces the time it takes for a Solid Edge design engineer to create valuable data for use by manufacturing inspection personnel and can greatly improve the quality of manufactured products.

SE-IT, is an application used to automate the creation of dimension inspection tables, commonly used by quality/inspection engineers on the shop floor. It automatically creates annotations related to the table in the Solid Edge Draft file sheet, allowing inspection engineers to check important dimensions against the manufactured product in order to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Customers using SE-IT will reduce design office drafting hours, improve product quality and be able to demonstrate compliance with quality assurance procedures and accreditations.

Using SE-IT, a Solid Edge design engineer is presented with a simple dialogue that allows him to quickly select important dimensions in the drawing sheet and mark them as ‘for inspection'. Other types of Solid Edge annotation also can be selected, such as Geometric Tolerance boxes, Callouts, Text Boxes, etc. Once the annotations are selected, the designer is able to preview all selected annotations in a list. Dimensions in the list can be re-ordered to suit any special requirements. Upon completion of any re-ordering, each annotation is assigned a code number / reference.

The final step is to export to Microsoft Excel, which when complete, opens an Excel sheet listing all annotations, their unique reference, and any tolerance data or special information the designer may have entered.

SE-IT is fully configurable and the inspection table can be tailored to suit company standards or existing inspection table formats.

Using SE-IT, the man hours to create this kind of inspection data and the associated work to create an inspection drawing, can be reduced by up to 90%. Unlike other methods for creating inspection table data, SE-IT is fully automatic, requires very little user input and produces the desired inspect table and drawing sheet annotations automatically. This reduces design office man hours and ensures accuracy of results.
